Chung, 32, a 10-season NFL champion who earned three Super Bowls with the Patriots, was charged on August 8 with ownership of a regulated drug, according to a Belknap County Attorney's department trial complaint.

The charge stems from an incident on June 25 in Meredith, New Hampshire, when, according to court documents, "Chung had possessed or controlled a quantity of controlled drug cocaine.
Meredith officers called to Chung's residence that day "received the evidence that led to the present charges being filed," County Attorney Andrew Livernois said Thursday in a statement.
Chung wasn't arrested at the time, but after the police investigation, prosecutors sought an indictment, Livernois said.
Chung will be tried in Belknap County Superior Court in Laconia on Wednesday. (Patriots News)
In a statement, the Patriots said the team "will not comment while the proceedings are going on."
NFL declaration said, "We're going to monitor trends in law compliance." Chung's officer did not immediately remark.
According to the Patriots, Chung was on Super Bowl victorious squads at the beginning of the rounds of 2014, 2016 and 2018. He was playing in two other Super Bowls as well. In 22 professional postseason matches, Chung has 103 tackles.
